How to tell from your paperwork
- Find the court name and address. It's printed on the ticket or bond paperwork, along with the date and time.
- Check the arresting agency. City police (Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Conway) usually means that city's municipal court. SC Highway Patrol or Horry County Police usually means a county magistrate court.
- Note whether a jury trial is involved. In Horry County, a DUI case from the Highway Patrol or Horry County Police is handled through traffic court, unless you request a jury trial, in which case it moves to Central Jury Court.
- Still unsure? Call the court listed, or let a local attorney check for you.
